JOHN and Francis Brennan, TV's trouble-shooting hotelier brothers exclusive five-star hotel was in profit last year.
The stars of RTE's hit show 'At Your Service' used their skills to return the Park Hotel in Kenmare, Co Kerry, to profit. It's the longstanding choice of captains of industry and celebrities alike. More recently, husband and wife team John and Gwen Brennan opened Dromquinna Manor a few miles away.
The period home which has been lavishly refurbished has amazing views over Kenmare Bay and is now a hugely successful wedding venue and "Glamping" - exclusive campsite - venue. The brothers, originally from Co Sligo, are known for having the Midas Touch.
Managing director John Brennan confirmed says the business returned to profit in 2012 when revenues increased by around one-fifth.Figures from their firm, Beechside, show that the hotel recorded a modest loss of €43,426 in 2011.
Around 500,000 TV viewers each week watch the Brennans provide on-screen help and advice to struggling hospitality business owners.
"We were very happy with 2012. It was an excellent year. We performed well on all fronts. It was a turning point from a trading point of view," Mr Brennan said.
He said that a large factor in the hotel's return to profit was the Notre Dame-Navy Football American Football game in Dublin last September. Mr Brennan declined to reveal the scale of profits last year, saying only that profits at the Park Hotel reflected "costs managed and increased revenues".
