Boost for jobseekers as 300 posts created

MORE than 300 jobs will be created at a major consultancy firm over the next 18 months.
Ernst & Young's plans for the new jobs will come after internet betting firm Betfair revealed it will hire a further 100 workers at a new data centre in Dublin next year.
And an additional 30 jobs will be created at international insurance company Global Indemnity over the next five years when it sets up a new IT centre in Cavan.
Ernst and Young is to make the biggest jobs announcement, following what it described as "a difficult few years".
The firm plans to fill the 300 vacancies at its offices in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Belfast.
Managing partner in Ireland, Mike McKerr, said the firm was seeing new opportunities as businesses sought advice on making savings and recovering from the financial crisis.
Half of the new employees will be graduates with degrees in engineering, IT, legal, business, accounting and finance.

There will also be opportunities for accountants and executives in tax, fraud investigation and dispute services. The recruitment drive will boost Ernst & Young's 1,100-strong workforce by a third.
Online technology company Betfair will announce 100 jobs in customer service and management at a new office in Dublin today.
The company, which recently listed on the London Stock Exchange, will open the office when it relocates part of its customer operations team to Ireland early next year.
In addition, Agriculture Minister, Brendan Smith, will announce a new IDA-backed operation in Cavan today.
A total of 30 jobs for technical staff in IT development will be available at Global Indemnity Services over the next five years. "The company's decision to locate in Cavan is an endorsement of the attractiveness of the area to global investors," said Mr Smith.
"The availability of local talent, its position within the north east region and its proximity to Dublin with the recent opening of the new M3 motorway are all major factors contributing to the attractiveness of the area."
