Bill Clinton hosts New York ‘invest in Ireland’ summit

Thursday February 09 2012

FORMER US president Bill Clinton will host special round-table business talks in New York today to drum up investment in Ireland.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore and Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Minister Richard Bruton will join him for the jobs drive.

"At this special event in New York, the president and I will meet with a number of senior US executives who do not yet have substantive business interests here," the Taoiseach said.

"This is a unique opportunity to engage with the highest levels of the international business world - to promote Ireland as an investment destination, and is yet another manifestation of how to achieve the mission of the global Irish making a difference together."

The Invest In Ireland meeting is one of a series of engagements with key business and economic leaders to encourage investment by US firm's with no base in Ireland.

One hundred people from the Global Irish Network and influential and existing investors in Ireland will take part in the forum.

Mr Clinton will address delegates at the start of the meeting at New York University.
