A&L GOODBODY, one of Ireland's leading law firms, has expanded its New York office in response to growing interest from US-based investors and clients in Ireland.

The announcement was made at an event in New York's Metropolitan Club last week.

Speakers Colm Kelleher, co-president of Institutional Securities and managing director at Morgan Stanley, and Nick Seidenberg, managing director at Eastdil Secured, addressed almost 200 of New York's business and legal leaders on the international view of Ireland as a positive place to do business and as particularly effective in dealing with the financial crisis in the context of broader eurozone issues.

Cian McCourt, partner and head of the A&L Goodbody New York office, said: "There has been a significant increase in international interest in the opportunities Ireland has to offer investors and dealmakers in terms of assets, investment structures, access to markets and as an environment in which to do business.

"To serve that interest we have expanded our on-the-ground resources and are working directly with legal and business communities in New York, the broader US and Ireland to unlock the value we know can be drawn from activity between both countries," he added.
