Best spot in town for XL Group talent

XL Group, the Irish-based global insurance business, has scored a win over rival AIG in the battle for talent.
The group has hired David Miller as senior vice-president and head of claims for international property and casualty coverage. He'll be based in London and has been brought in from AIG.
It's a score for XL Group's chief executive Mike McGavick over US giant AIG at a time when the two insurers are in the middle of a global scrap for talent. In recent months, each has been poaching the others executives.
XL has an eye for talent, the Central Bank's Fiona Muldoon was an executive with the group in Bermuda before returning to Ireland to join the public sector.
XL Group itself is a relative newcomer to our shores, after relocating its global headquarters to Dublin from Bermuda in 2010.
Earlier this year, the firm moved into refurbished offices on St Stephen's Green that, to The Punt's eye, are just about the best in the capital.
The listed Georgian offices were formerly the Hibernian United Services Club, and were picked up by XL in a receivers sale.
