Bedminster signs global rights to 'bio-energy' technology

Monday February 25 2008

Bedminster International has signed exclusive global rights for a technology which produces green renewable energy from waste.

The Irish-owned company is a recognised leader in the extraction and conversion of carbon-rich waste streams into renewable energy.

The agreement with ACTI, Los Angeles, California, will enable Bedminster International to install proven energy from waste technology, initially at its facilities in Nantucket and Marlboro, and also at its green field projects elsewhere.

Mr Bill McCabe, chairman and majority shareholder in Bedminster International, said the agreement marked the merging of two highly innovative proven technologies.

"This agreement with ACTI is a most significant development in the energy-from-waste sector, and it means Bedminster can now offer a sound economic and environmental solution to the growing energy and waste crisis," Mr McCabe said.

He added that the global energy and waste disposal issues together were driving the demand for radical and environmentally acceptable solutions.

Mr Latif Mahjoob, chairman of ACTI, said his company was excited about working with Bedminster to develop what he called a "substantial opportunity".

Renewable

According to Bedminster's chief executive, Pearse O'Kane, the Bedminster innovation integrates two well-proven technologies to produce renewable energy. It unlocks the carbon-rich waste as a source of high quality biomass feedstock, diverting more than 95pc of biodegradable waste from landfill in the process.

"The biomass is then converted into renewable energy using the ACTI technology, with extremely low emissions and sizeable negative carbon footprint," he said.

"As a CO2-neutral product, the Bedminster BioEnergy Technology will make a significant contribution to the ever-increasing carbon footprint issue facing governments worldwide," he added.
