Arup Ireland wins €1bn hospital job

CIVIL engineering group Arup Ireland has won the commission to design a €1bn hospital in Vienna. The facility will be one of Europe's largest, with a build cost of €500m and a fit-out cost of the same again.

Aer Arann takes on two new routes

AVIATION

AER Arann will operate two additional Aer Lingus routes to the UK and France in the coming months. It will run the services from Dublin to Bournemouth and to Rennes in France under the Aer Lingus Regional brand. The Rennes route will operate from June to September.

Good start to 2012 for pension funds

PENSIONS

PENSION funds got the year off to a positive start. The Aon Hewitt Managed Index, an index of traditional managed pension funds, increased by 3.7pc in January. However, the index fell by 2.4pc for the calendar year 2011. Aon Hewitt of Aon said markets viewed the eurozone move toward a tighter fiscal union in Europe positively.

Laws 'won't trigger mortgage defaults'

BANKRUPTCY

PROPOSED personal-insolvency laws are unlikely to trigger a "tsunami of mortgage defaults", according to Glas Securities. The laws may make banks more active in dealing with home-loan arrears, Glas said in a note yesterday.
