International hotel group Marriott is launching its Aloft Hotels brand in Ireland after signing a franchise agreement with a company co-founded by former Jurys Doyle boss Niall Geoghegan.

Marriott said that it has inked the agreement with a company called Blackpitts Hospitality, a vehicle set up by Mr Geoghegan and Mark Lynch. Both men are co-founders of Pembroke Hospitality, which provides hotel management and advisory services. Mr Lynch also previously worked with Jurys Doyle.

The Aloft Hotel will open in Dublin's Liberties in 2018, and will be operated by Pembroke. The eight-storey property will have 202 bedrooms and features such as keyless room entry.
