An individual's probability of regaining employment decreases with age and the length of stay in unemployment, the Central Bank said in a report on the Irish labour market published today.

People with lower levels of education are also less likely to be re-employed compared to those with higher education, the report adds

While unemployment is gradually falling at the moment as the economy picks up, the Central Bank warns that this will not be enough.

It adds that labour market activation measures will also be vital to reduce long-term unemployment.

The troika, which concludes its mission to Ireland today, has also consistently urged the government to introduce new job creation schemes.
