Adviser on bank guarantee promoted
HENRIETTA Baldock, the Merrill Lynch banker who advised the Irish Government at the time of the bank guarantee in September 2008, has been promoted.
Baldock was a key advisers to the State during the banking crisis and emailed former Department of Finance mandarin Kevin Cardiff (above) with a 24-page list of potential options on the night of the guarantee, which saw Ireland agree to bail out the bondholders. Merrill earned €7.4m for advising the Government during the crisis.
Last week, the UK-based banker was promoted to become Merrill Lynch owner Bank of America's chairman of European financial institutions investment banking.
