A&L Goodbody top adviser on mergers

IRISH law firm A&L Goodbody advised on nearly 39 mergers and acquisitions last year worth nearly $12bn (€9bn). It was the biggest number of M&As advised on by any Irish firm. The transactions included Jazz Pharmaceuticals' reverse takeover of Azur Pharma, IBM's acquisition of Curam Software and AIB's acquisition of Anglo Irish Bank's Ireland and UK deposit book.
Innovation centre to create 300 jobs

IT'S forecast that 300 highly skilled jobs could be created at NovaUCD, the innovation centre at University College Dublin (UCD), over the next two years. Peter Clinch, the vice president for innovation at UCD, said the 37 companies at the centre were planning to hire the staff as they boost their activities in areas such as equine genetics and web-search solutions.
€85m available to start-up companies
FUNDS
UP to €85m in business angel funds are available to start-up companies across Ireland, InterTradeIreland has estimated. The group is holding its venture capital conference in Belfast next month. InterTradeIreland offers support to early-stage companies to ensure they are 'investor ready'.
