60 internet jobs for Dublin at expanding Symantec
Symantec is to create 60 jobs at its European headquarters in Dublin. The investment in the internet security company is supported by IDA Ireland and the new jobs will be focused on three specific areas relating to its identity and authentication products.
The company has had operations in Ireland since 1991 and CEO Enrique Salem said the decision to make this investment in Ireland is due to the company's success so far, here.
He said the announcement is a major step forward for Symantec, enabling it to better serve its customers by utilising local talents.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation Richard Bruton said Ireland must be far-reaching in its ambitions in communications technology.
‘'A significant part of the real Irish economic miracle in the mid to late 1990s was our ability to tap into the global ICT boom that was going on at that time,’' Mr Bruton said.
'If we are to get growth in employment and in the economy again, one part of that will involve relying on our traditional strengths, and today's announcement is a great vote of confidence in our policies’'.
Sixty jobs were also announced today at Ballyseedy Home and Garden centre, with the opening of a second centre at Fota Retail Park in Cork.
