It was announced today that 260 jobs have been created at Yahoo! in Dublin and internet security software firm McAfee in Cork.
Yahoo plans to hire over 200 people in customer support, technology and HR as well as finance and operations while McAfee will create 60 engineering roles at its Cork base.
The jobs are being supported by IDA Ireland.
Yahoo said today that some recruits have already been hired.
Yahoo’s Dan McCarthy told RTE’s Morning Ireland: "We have got quite assertive plans for these 200 roles so we have actively started over the last couple of weeks. We have actually some people on board now and we have significant targets to recruit these folks so we're live."
Taoiseach Enda Kenny will formally announce the jobs in California later today as part of his St Patrick’s Day trip.
