Irish woman joins top tier at BNY Mellon in US

BNY Mellon Ireland executive Ann Fogarty (49) has been selected to lead a new division which the investment bank is setting up in the US, responsible for 3,000 people.
She becomes the most senior Irish woman at the company, which has 50,000 employees worldwide.
Fogarty's will become the head of the company's newly created global fund accounting and administration organisation.
The division brings together the bank's US and EMEA fund servicing teams.
She and her family will relocate from Dublin to Wilmington, Delaware for the job.
Fogarty is a board member at WXN, the women's executive network organisation. She is also a founding member of the Irish chapter of the 30pc Club, a group which seeks to improve the proportion of women in senior business roles.
The group aims to reach a 30pc female gender balance on Irish boards and at executive management level by 2020.
An Irish executive at EMC was also recently promoted to a global role within the multinational.
University College Cork graduate Chris Murphy becomes EMC's vice president of IT client experience, leading a team of 1,000 people. The job will still be based at EMC's Irish headquarters at Ovens in Cork, which has 1,000 employees.
