Fresh hands at the helm
IT'S a change of hands at the helm of the Department of Communications Energy & Natural Resources with a new Secretary General appointed. Mark Griffin replaces incumbent Aidan Dunning who is retiring.
Mr Griffin's most recent duties have been high profile and one wonders whether this is a reward for his efforts.
He was at the forefront of the Government's water reform programme, including the establishment of Irish Water, which will see domestic water charges introduced for households.
Mr Griffin (48) is the current assistant secretary for water at the Department of the Environment and has served at that ranking for seven years, leading the planning division for much of that time. His term as secretary general of the Department of Communication will be for seven years.
Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte (pictured) said Mr Dunne had given exceptional public service.
