FBD Holdings has appointed David Costello as the new chief risk officer for FBD Insurance.

Mr Costello joins FBD from Allianz, where he was head of actuarial services for its Worldwide Care division for the last nine years.

He has spent 25 years in insurance, during which he had stints in both Zurich and New Ireland.

Mr Costello, who is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries Ireland, will join FBD on February 22.

The appointment comes not long after FBD chief executive, Fiona Muldoon, announced that the firm will add a chief commercial officer.

Ms Muldoon wants someone to oversee sales and other commercial activities following the departure of the person who previously looked after many of the duties the job will cover.
