Withdrawn 61ac Limerick farm set to be sold in lots

A 61ac residential holding located at Grange, Newcastlewest, Co Limerick was withdrawn from auction recently but made progress in lots soon after.

A 47ac parcel with the house and yard opened with one bid of €200,000 and sold immediately after for a figure believed to be in the region of €250,000 or €5,300/ac.

A second lot comprised of 14ac opened at €50,000, and with two bidders showing interest it climbed to €80,000 before it was withdrawn.

Negotiations are continuing to close a sale.

Located five miles from Newcastlewest off the main Limerick/Killarney road, the land is described as of mixed quality.

Set out in 12 fields, the property is divided by a public road with the house and yard on 47ac on one side with a parcel of 14ac laid out in three fields on the other.

The house needs a lot of attention and the yard is of the traditional type. The vendors represented the late Kitty Fitzgibbon while the purchaser of the 47ac parcel is believed to be a businessman from the area. Charleville auctioneer John Flynn is joint agent in the sale.
