Seaview farm at Kilbrittain in West Cork was bought by John and Elizabeth Petch some 60 years ago when they were a young couple in their 20s and ready for the challenge of running a 100ac farm.
Having spent a lifetime developing an excellent enterprise in this lovely place by the sea they are now ready for semi retirement so they have decided to sell half of their highly productive, coastal tillage farm.
The 49ac holding includes 40ac in tillage and 9ac in forestry and the property is on the private treaty market with a guide price of €650,000.
Located 5.5km from Kilbrittain, 12km from Kinsale and 14km from Bandon, the farm has extensive road frontage of up to 300m and is elevated with fine views out to sea.
The farm is currently all in stubble but is suitable for any farming enterprise including drystock and dairying.
It is laid out in five large tillage fields while a 9ac parcel on the eastern boundary was planted with larch and spruce about 14 years ago and has just about a year left in premium payments.
The family is keeping 50ac around the house and will continue to live and farm in the place.
Many local farmers will be more than interested in bidding for the remainder of this lovely holding.
