Two-day Limerick Show returns

The Limerick Agricultural Show returns to a two-day format this weekend.

Exhibitors will compete for €40,000 in prizes at Limerick Racecourse, Patrickswell, and the programme features the All-Ireland Holstein Friesian Championship, the National Prime Beef Fat Stock show and the All-Ireland Baby Beef Championship.

The equestrian highlight will be the final of the renowned Limerick Lady and Limerick Matron championships.

Glanbia cheeses take top awards

GLANBIA Ingredients, makers of Kilmeaden and Avonmore cheese, retained two prestigious trophies and scooped an additional trophy, two gold medals and one silver medal at Nantwich International Cheese Show recently.

Glanbia secured trophies for best overseas cheddar, best Irish cheddar and best mature cheddar cheese, as well as two gold medals for mild cheddar cheese and mature cheddar cheese and a silver medal for single Irish cheddar.

IGA re-seeding demonstration

THE Irish Grassland Association is to hold a live re-seeding demonstration on the farm of Paul Gilsenan, Newcastle, Oldcastle, Co Meath next Wednesday, August 25, from 11am-1.30pm.

The demonstration will focus on the cost:benefits of reseeding, ground preparation and seed varieties.
