Meanwhile, the new series of UTV Ireland's farming series Rare Breed: A Farming Year airs from next Monday, January 11, at 8pm and this year's farmers will include the one that I know best, my husband Robin Talbot.

Running for 12 consecutive weeks, the programme gives a unique fly-on-the-wall insight into life on farms around the island of Ireland, with a total of 18 farming families featured across a range of enterprises.

In the first episode of the series, we meet Wexford farmer, Glenn Jacob, whose pedigree Herefords are being examined by the vet ahead of the new breeding season.

Also, dairy farmer, Brendan Hinchion, drives from Cork to Tyrone to collect a new milking parlour whilst Colm O'Donnell is supplementing his sheep's diet as they deal with the harsh weather on Ox mountain in Sligo.
