Training dates set for young horse breeders

Teagasc and Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) have announced a series of training days for young breeders ahead of the National Young Breeders Competition on April 19 at Kildalton College, Co Kilkenny.

The training sessions will include the evaluation of conformation, movement and jumping ability, as well as training on presenting horses in hand.

Clement McMahon will be the guest trainer at Hilton View Stud in Co Monaghan on February 6, while Maurice Coleman will train at Monart Equestrian Centre in Co Wexford on February 19.

Belmont Stud in Co Offaly hosts a training day on March 5. Jack Doyle will train breeders at Cuffesgrange Stud, Co Kilkenny on March 19.

Tiernan Gill will train on April 2 at Lisbeg Farm, Co Galway, and the final session will take place at Kildalton College on April 16.
