To celebrate National Potato Day we asked our readers how they like to eat their spuds.

Mash 'em, boil 'em, fry 'em, roast 'em, bake 'em; the potato is one of the most versatile ingredients you can have in the kitchen.

Even if you're low on just about everything else, once there's a potato in the cupboard you're doing alright and you'll manage to get a dinner out of it.

But what's your favourite way to eat the humble spud?

It's probably no surprise to anyone that mashed potatoes came out on top with 27 percent of the vote.

It was followed by roasted at 22 percent and boiled at 20 percent.

Chips came in fourth place at 11 percent, followed by steamed at 10 percent, baked at 7 percent and gratin at 4 percent.

Potato salad came in last place with just 1 percent of the vote; which isn't too surprising.
