Test report delayed

The report on a new capital asset test for third level grants is not expected to be published until after Christmas.

The inter-departmental report was due out in late June, but it has been repeatedly delayed due to requirements for 'further economic analysis.'

The Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn, has repeatedly refused to rule out the option of farming assets being included in means testing for college grants. The ICMSA said the delay afforded Minister Quinn the chance to put farm families' minds at ease.
