Up to 150 employees in Larry Goodman's latest acquisition, RWM Food Group in Britain, have been summoned to consultations with management.
Employees from the boning hall in the RWM plant at Yetminster, Dorset, were convened for talks with management amid speculation that RWM lost a major contract prior to its takeover by Goodman's ABP UK group last week.
Sources have suggested that the contract could have accounted for half of production at the Yetminster plant.
A spokesman for ABP declined to comment.
RWM Group includes beef and lamb processing facilities at Langport, Somerset and Yetminster, Dorset, as well as a retail packing operation at the Dorset site. The group had sales of £204.7m (€236.6m) in 2009 and was bought by the Goodman- owned ABP UK for about £30m.
