Success in Wicklow sale

A solicitor believed to be working for two farmers secured the sale of a 47ac non-residential farm at Tinahely, Co Wicklow, last Tuesday.

Located beside the village of Tinahely, the property was first offered for sale in two lots of 6.5ac and 40.5ac, but there was little interest in these.

Bidding on the entire farm was opened at €350,000 by the solicitor but failed to go any higher. After consultation with the vendors, auctioneer David Quinn withdrew the farm from auction.

Consultation immediately began with the solicitor and the sale was agreed for a higher price shortly afterwards. The pre-auction guide price for the farm had been €9,000-10,000 and it is believed that the sale price agreed was at the upper end of this scale.
