A 45ac Co Meath farm that includes an old Land Commission house is for sale by auction tomorrow, with a guide price of €10,000/ac, writes Jim O'Brien.
The property is in two different locations and will be sold in two lots.
The first lot includes 21ac of ground along with the residence and an old farmyard. These are located at Donaghpatrick, Navan 3km from Kilberry and 10km from Navan.
According to John V Farrelly of DNG Royal County the executor sale should attract much local interest as the property is set in a very progressive farming area.
"This is great grazing ground," he said. "It is laid out in two divisions and is in great heart.
"The house is an old mass concrete Land Commission structure that needs complete refurbishment but perhaps its presence and the benefit of 183m of road frontage might ease the way to the construction of a new residence."
Another 24ac parcel belonging to the same farm is located at Oristown and Teltown near Kells.
This non-residential parcel is in two lots with one extending to 19.7ac and another extending to 4,65ac.
The 19.7ac piece is in one division and has 189m of road frontage with a yard that includes a haybarn and a lean-to serviced with mains water.
A 4.65ac piece is also in one division and comes with 96m of road frontage and could be an ideal location for a residence, subject to the necessary planning permission.
Mr Farrelly expects a wide range of customers for the various lots and is hoping for a lively auction at the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells at 3pm tomorrow, Wednesday, December 9.
