Slaney and Cork clubs lead the way at Holstein Friesian show

Competitors from seven regional IHFA YMA Clubs shared the honours at the Association's Silver Jubilee National Calf Championships at Kilkenny.

Slaney and Cork topped the list in the calf classes each winning two awards in keen all round competition among the high standard of entries.

The Slaney Club members won the Cork Friesian Breeders Club YMA Perpetual Trophy for Clipping and the Breffni / Oriel Friesian Breeders Club YMA Perpetual Trophy for the Best Calves.

The Cork Club took home the Barrett Family Perpetual Trophy for Handling when Paul Murphy excelled, and added the West Midlands Friesian Breeders Club YMA Perpetual Trophy for the Ag-Analysis Competition.

The overall Calf Championship was won by Roy Crombie for Dalevalley Dorman Tracey ET, with Michael Booth taking the reserve with Beechrow Damion Twain and an Hon Mention: for Hallow Mccutchen Twizzle exhibited by Philip Jones.

The Kildare Friesian Breeders Club YMA Perpetual Trophy for Handling went to the Breffni / Oriel Club, while Kilkenny Club took the honours in Sportmanship for the Denis Barrett Auctions & Pedigree Sales Perpetual Trophy and the Kerry Club staged the best stand to win the Bill Flynn Memorial YMA Perpetual Trophy.
