Shining light of Wexford coast beams on to market

Duncannon's North Lighthouse at Wexford's Hook Peninsula is for sale by auction with a guide price of €350,000.

The lighthouse and the lighthouse keeper's cottage are set into a series of granite and york stone terraces overlooking the picturesque fishing village of Duncannon. It is still in use today as a fixed beacon light and is serviced by Waterford Port Authority.

The keeper's cottage is a three-bedroom house with a sitting room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and studio in excellent condition. The property is approached by a private 270m tarmac drive and the grounds are laid out over three levels, all boasting uninterrupted views over the Suir estuary and the Hook Peninsula. Outbuildings include a potting shed, old battery store, boiler house and fuel store.

The lighthouse will be sold at auction by PN O'Gorman Auctioneers, New Ross, on Friday, June 17, at 3pm in the Brandon House Hotel, New Ross, Co Wexford.
