The €8,000 Green Dragon Secondary Schools Innovation Challenge has started again.
Designed by Agri Aware to encourage students to develop a new product or service for use in the food, agriculture and environment sectors, the winners will share in a development fund worth €8,000. Some 25 finalists will battle it out at the national finals in March when the students will need to convince a panel of Green Dragons that their idea is worth investing in.
Last year's winner, Paul Bowden, invented a one-handed reel to help farmers move strip-grazing fences more easily. The patent is pending and production details are currently being finalised on the product.
