Young farmers Queen of the Land to be crowned this weekend

Ladies, grab your sashes and perfect your twirl as this year’s WR Shaw Queen of the Land Festival is just days away.

Thirty two contenders will descend on the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore, this weekend,  including international representatives from Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

Weekend entertainment tickets for entry to all events — including gala banquet — are available for €60 and can be ordered in advance from Ger Mahon on 085-2471416, while gala banquet tickets are €35.

Admission is also available on the door for the opening night, on-stage interviews and crowning ceremony.

Back in the capital, Hill 16 Dublin Macra will host a table quiz club fundraiser next Tuesday (November 15) in McGrattans Bar,  Fitzwilliam Lane, Dublin at 7.30pm.

All Macra members, and non members are invited to attend.

Tables of four cost €20 with a great raffle, and spot prizes also up for grabs on the night. For more details contact: hill16dublinmacra2013@gmail.com.

Meanwhile, congratulations to the recently re-established Ennis Macra club whose membership has doubled in the last year.
