A non-residential tillage farm extending to 91ac at Ardbraccan, three miles from Navan, Co Meath, sold at auction last week for €885,000 or €9,725/ac.

The farm is described by Ronan McKenna of Raymond Potterton Auctioneers as comprising free draining Bohermeen-class tillage ground laid out in large fields with mature hedgerows.

The farm was offered in two lots located at either side of a minor road. Lot one extended to 63.5ac and bidding opened at €500,000. Although four bidders were originally in the frame, the lands were withdrawn at €580,000. Lot two comprised 27.5ac and opened at €20,000. Three bidders brought the price to €300,000 when it was withdrawn.

The entire opened at €770,000 and with two bidders active the price climbed until the gavel fell at €885,000.

The property was sold to a Navan businessman with farming interests.
