Request of the week

Manufacturers of veterinary medicines, please use bigger print and simpler language on the packet label instructions. In particular the dosage rate should be printed in large legible print.

More than half of Irish of farmers are over 55 years of age. Very many have to use reading glasses once they reach their late forties but these are left safely inside on the dresser rather than beside the cattle or sheep handling unit.

In many cases, the container bottle or pack may be too small to carry the desired instructions on dosage rate, method of administration, withdrawal time. A leaflet (in large print) outlining these items would be of great benefit all round.
