It is a rare thing to find a big Kilkenny farm on the market; farmland for sale in the Land of the Cats is almost as scarce as football medals.

A mixed farm that includes good grazing ground, forestry and marginal land extending to 138ac at Barnadown, Hugginstown is coming for auction tomorrow.

David Shee of Shee & Hawe is hoping the entire property will net in the region of €850,000.

Located near Mullinavat, the lands comprise 80ac of good quality grasslands with a small derelict residence along with 27ac of lands with planting permission and a further 31ac for reclamation or habitat.

The farm will be offered in various lots. The first lot will include the residence, which needs total rebuilding, on 10ac.

The farm has good road frontage and services that include electricity and a pump water supply. The auction will be held in The Rising Sun, Mullinavat, tomorrow at 2.30pm.
