The sale of land in stubble is not a transaction one would associate with Kerry.

However, a 25ac piece of ground fitting that description and located at Coolnadeed, Ballymacelligott, Co Kerry, has just come on the market.

Ballymacelligott-based auctioneer Mannix Property Services is selling the lands by private treaty with a guide price of €15,000/ac.

The land is part of a larger holding bought by the vendor in 2005 and, according to auctioneer Brendan Mannix, the owner is selling excess acreage he does not require.

The holding, which is all in one block, produced potatoes up to 2009 and has been under cereals since then.

Located five miles from Tralee, just off the N22 main Tralee to Killarney road, the property has its own separate entrance and is supplied with mains water and electricity.

Mr Mannix describes the holding as "a cracking piece of limestone ground that will make a fantastic add-on to any existing holding".

While the price tag of €15,000/ac might appear somewhat strong, Mr Mannix believes the quality of the land justifies the price.
