The Irish Pure Friesian open day will be held in Trevor Dudley's Kilsunny herd, near Thurles Co Tipperary, on Saturday, August 6, at 1.30pm.
As well as its longevity, fertility and high milk solids, the pure Friesians also have good cull cow and bull calf values, with bulls averaging €180-220 at mart sales this spring.
According to Charles Gallagher, of the IFHA, Friesians will add €55 EBI in terms of hybrid vigour when crossed on pure Holsteins. This is the first time the Dudleys are having a sale of stock and the entire heifer calf crop from the herd since last autumn will be for sale.
