Golden Vale land is still commanding a premium as confidence in the dairy sector shows no sign of abating.
A 65ac residential farm with some modern farm buildings at Grange Upper, Newcastle West, Co Limerick is coming to auction with a guide price of €10,000/ac.
Located three miles from Newcastlewest, off the main Limerick road, the farm is accessed by an avenue with a right-of-way. The residence is an old thatched house in need of complete refurbishment and set in a yard that includes a four-column open haybarn, a four-column walled haybarn with lean-to housing 30 cubicles with an automated scraping system.
Auctioneer John Flynn says the land is top class Golden Vale grazing ground that has served as an out-farm to a thriving dairy enterprise.
The property will be sold at auction on Thursday, June 11 at 3pm at the Ballintemple Inn, Newcastle West, Co Limerick.
Moving south to Co Cork, a 21ac non-residential farm at Ballincollig near 'the real capital' is on the private treaty market with a guide price of between €225,000 and €250,000.
Located approximately five minutes' drive from Ballincollig town centre, the lands for the most part are under pasture with the exception of a 5ac parcel of scrubland that needs attention.
These lands are divided by a country road and fall naturally into three divisions with the 5ac of scrubland making up one, a 14ac parcel of grassland making up the other with a 2ac plot making up the last piece. All parts have good road frontage, and are securely fenced.
John Hodnett of selling agents Hodnett Forde is experiencing lively interest in the holding from farmers in this strong farming area. He believes the farm offers an ideal opportunity to enlarge an existing farm holding or would be ideal for a hobby farmer. The property is under offer at present.
