Premier 83ac withdrawn after falling well short of guide

Published 25/10/2011 | 05:00

An 83ac roadside holding located on the outskirts of Newport, Co Tipperary was withdrawn from auction recently after the highest bid came to €540,000, well short of the guide of €8,000 to €10,000/ac.

The holding, situated in the townlands of Cranavaneen and Tullow, is in one block. Aside from a seven-acre section of heavy ground, the land is described by local auctioneer James Lee as sound, upland grazing ground watered by a stream.

There are no buildings with the property but it comes with reasonable road frontage.

Mr Lee is in negotiation with the highest bidder and other interested parties and says the sale has advanced significantly since the auction.
