A man was pronounced dead before later being revived at the National Ploughing Championships this morning.
The man, described as being in his 50s, was found unconscious near the toilets on the Stradbally, Co Laois site early this morning by security staff.
The quick-thinking security guard performed CPR before medical staff rushed to his aid.
He was pronounced dead before he was resuscitated in an ambulance on site and a heartbeat was recovered.
He is now in recovery at Portlaoise Hospital, where he was rushed by ambulance this morning.
A medical source said: "He was found by security at the port-a-loos this morning, who, thankfully gave him CPR.
"We had to resuscitate him four times before he had a heartbeat again.
"He was still unconscious when he was transferred to Portlaoise [hospital] this morning, but he should be fine now.
"He was extremely lucky that he was found when he was."
