The Husqvarna Axe Factor and Pole Climbers are one of the must-see events at this year's Ploughing Championships.

The shows feature Kevin Birchall and his team of pole climbers, including former world champion climber Terry Bennett.

The Husqvarna Pole Climbing team will race each other up the trees with the winner being announced on the final day.

The Douglas Fir trees, which were specially selected for the challenge, were 42m (138ft) tall when felled last week but were trimmed to 34m for transport.

The trees had to be transported at night from Rathdrum, Co Wicklow to the ploughing site in Athy, where they were buried 17ft deep.

Trained axemen will entertain the crowds with their skill and mastering of the Husqvarna chainsaws in the Axe Factor.

Later this year they will compete in the World Championships in Holland.
