All Ireland winners on Shorthorn stand

All Ireland show winners will highlight the diversity of the Shorthorn breed at the Irish Shorthorn Society stand at Ratheniska this week.

Located at stand number 3 in block 3 in the livestock section, the display will include a selection of cows in milk and in-calf dairy heifers from the show circuit alongside a number of commercial crossbred animals. It will also feature the All Ireland interbreed suckler heifer champion for 2013.

The society will also launch its beef and dairy sire directories, complete with all available information on the latest bulls available across all AI stations.

The society has a number of sales scheduled for the coming months, starting in Carlow Mart on September 28.

SALES

It will be followed by Ennis Mart on October 5, Castlerea Mart on October 12, and the Society Premier Sale in Roscommon Mart on November 16.

Catalogues for the sale will be available from the society website shortly.

Meanwhile, one of the beef Shorthorn heifers on display at the stand will be raffled on the final day of the Ploughing Championships, so don't forget to enter the competition.
