Plans to evaluate farm partnerships
The Department of Agriculture and Teagasc are looking at putting pilot projects in place to assess the potential of farm partnerships. While exact details on the proposals are not available, it is understood the projects will involve both beef and dairy operations.
Minister Coveney is committed to evaluating the potential of partnership arrangements, viewing them as a means for the Irish farm sector to reduce costs and compete with bigger foreign farm operators.
Meanwhile, Macra president Alan Jagoe said establishment of a body that would assist with the promotion and development of collaborative arrangements among farmers needed to be explored by the Department.
