New mastitis vaccine launched

A series of meetings about the new mastitis vaccine, Startvac, begin this evening in the Park Hotel, Dungarvan, Co Waterford, at 8pm.

The meetings, organised by vaccine distributors Duggan Veterinary, will detail the concept of vaccinating to control and prevent bovine mastitis.

The other topics to be covered include the types of mastitis against which Startvac acts against and the financial advantages the vaccine can bring as part of an overall herd health programme on the farm.

The meetings continue for the next fortnight at: Manor West Hotel, Tralee, Co Kerry (tomorrow); Dundrum Hotel, Co Tipperary (Thursday); Abbeycourt Hotel, Nenagh, Co Tipperary (October 12); Ardoyne Hotel, Navan, Co Meath (October 13); Castletroy Hotel, Co Limerick (October 14); Hiberniain Hotel, Mallow, Co Cork (October 25); Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, Co Donegal (November 2); Woodenbridge Hotel, Arklow, Co Wicklow (November 4); Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, Co Westmeath (November 9); and Shirley Arms Hotel, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan (November 10).
