Joint auctioneers Sherry Fitzgerald Davitt and Davitt and Denis O'Roarke are still hammering out a deal on a 40ac non-residential farm at Milltownpass, Co Westmeath.
The land is a mixture of tillage and grassland and, prior to Friday's auction, the selling agents had quoted a guide price of €390,000. Bidding opened at €250,000 and three people entered the fray.
However, bidding stalled a short time later at €320,000.
Under instructions from the owner, the property was withdrawn from auction but another offer of €330,00 was lodged immediately afterwards. It is understood that talks are continuing with the top bidder.
The property is divided into four fields and a crowd of 20 people came to the auction.
