Munster AI pulls out of Ploughing

Munster AI has confirmed that the company will not have a stand at this month's National Ploughing Championships in Athy, Co Kildare.
The company is traditionally represented at the event with Progressive Genetics under the National Cattle Breeding Centre (NCBC) banner, since both are shareholders in the enterprise.
A Munster AI source said the company would save up to €20,000 by giving the Ploughing a miss.
The decision was influenced by the fact that late September is not a good time of the year to sell to spring-calving herds, which make up the bulk of Munster's clientele.
Athy is also viewed as being outside Munster's area of operations.
There is also the belief that the company got a better response from demonstrations at marts for suckler farmers.
It is understood that Progressive Genetics will be represented with a smaller stand at the Athy showpiece, which takes place in two weeks' time.
