More at Mountbellew

Mountbellew Agricultural College and Galway-Mayo IT have combined to offer two Level 7 HETAC-accredited courses, the Bachelor of Business in Rural Enterprise and Agribusiness (GA172) and the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Environmental Management (GA777).

The first year of each course is common and students study financial and farm accounting, microeconomics, computing, production agriculture, environmental science and additional subjects.

The Bachelor of Business in Rural Enterprise and Agri-Business is aimed at students who are interested in a career in the rural and agri-business sectors.

While some graduates take up careers in the agri-business and agri-service sectors, or in the general business areas of finance, marketing, sales, retailing and management, others become development officers in government departments.

However, most graduates of the programme now progress to a Level 8 Degree in Business Studies and then to postgraduate courses.

Some others choose to complete the Higher Diploma in Education to become teachers in second-level schools.

Meanwhile, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Environmental Management graduates find jobs in farm management, agricultural and environmental consultancy, as sales reps with agri-business and agri-service companies and as agricultural and environmental officers with local government and national government agencies.
