Meath auctioneer Thomas Potterton had mixed fortunes when he recently brought three Co Meath properties to auction at the Property Exchange in Trim.

  • Go To

In an executor sale, a parcel of 34.5ac with a derelict residence in the townlands of Cloncarneel, Kildalkey and Kilmurray, near Trim, was bought under the hammer by a local dairy farmer for €195,000 (€5,652/ac).

Habitable

A second part of the estate at Pubblestown, Kildalkey, which included a habitable cottage on an acre of ground with out-offices and a haybarn, was bought by a couple from Ratoath for €65,000.

Meanwhile, at the same auction, a 31ac holding at Kiltoome, Trim, was withdrawn when the total on offer came to €210,000.

The auctioneer was expecting in the region of €240,000. He is in negotiation with various interested parties and is hoping to close the sale in a matter of days.

Mr Potterton was disappointed that the land at Kiltoome did not sell as there had been great interest in the property prior to auction.
