Milk quota amendments ruled out

EU Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos has ruled out a review of the milk quota situation.
"A decision was made on this issue only a few years ago," he said. "If we revisit every decision, it will only add further instability for farmers."
Despite many countries in the EU remaining significantly under quota, the production of dairy commodities has increased significantly within the region.
Meanwhile, in a recent article entitled 'Milk partnership rules change again', it was stated that changes to the rules governing milk production partnerships were announced despite the Department's milk quota expert, Mr Paul Savage, dismissing the possibility of any rule change the previous week. We are happy to clarify that while rules governing partnerships were recently amended, milk quota regulations remained unchanged.
