An agricultural machinery manufacturer run by three young brothers from Mayo clinched the overall title at the national enterprise awards in Dublin last week.

Agrispread, in Ballyhaunis, which is supported by the Mayo County Enterprise Board, manufactures and exports a range of machinery from lime, fertiliser and slurry spreaders to bale feeders.

Run by David, Dermot and Marcus Murphy, the enterprise exports 85pc of its products to seven countries, including Poland, Holland and Germany.

Running Gear Ltd, trading as Agrispread, was set up by the Murphys in 2007 and employs 10 people full-time.

The best innovation in product development award went to Drombeg Premium Irish Spirit in west Cork, which produces and markets a liqueur for sale both nationally and internationally.
