Marketing days to encourage local networking

Teagasc is to host a series of timber marketing days next month aimed at helping private growers meet with potential buyers and harvesting contractors in their area.

"This is a valuable opportunity to meet and discuss your own forest site with those buying timber in your area," said Teagasc forestry expert Steven Meyen. "These marketing days are a must for anyone whose plantation is approaching thinning age, at thinning age or indeed approaching a second thinning."

Each day will run from 9:30am to 1:30pm on the following dates and locations:

• North East region, March 8, Bailie Hotel, Main St, Bailieborough, Co Cavan.

• Midlands region, March 13, Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix, Co Laois.

• West region, March 15, Lough Rea Hotel, Loughrea, Co Galway.

• South region, March 21, Castle Hotel, Macroom, Co Cork.
