Local interest buoys sale of Longford 19ac
LOCAL interest dominated the competition for a 19ac property at Cartronamarkey, Granard, Co Longford. The property went for sale at the Longford Arms recently.
Selling agent James Murtagh described the property as comprising 10ac of good land, with the remainder being fair quality.
The holding was guided at €150,000. Three bidders entered proceedings when it opened with a strong bid of €100,000. The auction continued apace and a final bid of €165,000 from a local farmer clinched the deal.
James Murtagh was happy with the price, which equates to around €8,700/ac. "It exceeded our guide price and I think that the price per acre of more than €8,600 wasn't a bad one for the piece of land on offer."
